Blue Star Launches 125 New Room AC Models for Summer 2026
Blue Star Launches 125 New Room AC Models for Summer 2026

Blue Star Limited, a leading player in India’s air conditioning and commercial refrigeration industry, has officially launched an extensive new range of Room Air Conditioners for Summer 2026. The announcement, made in early March, introduces 125 models designed to cater to diverse residential and light commercial needs while strengthening the company’s position in a rapidly expanding market.

The complete portfolio spans inverter split, fixed-speed, and window air conditioners across multiple price segments. All models fully comply with the updated Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) standards that took effect on January 1, 2026. The lineup has been engineered to meet rising consumer expectations for energy efficiency, superior performance, and advanced features amid increasing climate challenges and urbanisation across the country.

Industry experts project India’s room AC market to grow significantly, expanding from approximately 14 million units currently to around 30 million units by FY30. Growth is expected to be driven by first-time buyers in Tier 3, 4, and 5 cities, alongside replacement demand in established urban markets. Blue Star’s new offerings are strategically positioned to capitalise on this structural shift, with a strong focus on lower-tier markets that are outpacing metros on a smaller base.

A flagship highlight of the launch is the premium ‘Iconia’ series, featuring an elegant Midnight Silver finish targeted at discerning consumers seeking sophisticated aesthetics and high-end performance. The range also includes specialised categories such as Super Energy-Efficient ACs, Heavy-Duty ACs, Hot & Cold ACs, and models equipped with Anti-Virus Technology.

Blue Star’s Super Energy-Efficient models incorporate Dynamic Drive Technology, delivering high airflow and optimised cooling. Notably, certain 1-ton inverter split ACs achieve an ISEER rating of 6.25, making them up to 45% more energy-efficient than standard 3-star inverter units.

The Heavy-Duty series is built for extreme conditions, offering robust performance in temperatures up to 56°C with a powerful air throw of up to 55 feet. These units maintain full cooling capacity even at 43°C, ensuring reliable comfort during peak summer heat.

For regions with varied climates, the Hot & Cold ACs provide year-round solutions. Select models operate efficiently at ambient temperatures as low as -15°C, suitable for high-altitude or extreme winter areas such as Srinagar, while others are optimised for -5°C conditions.

Models featuring Anti-Virus Technology focus on improving indoor air quality by filtering microbes and particulate matter. Many units also support a dedicated air purification mode, offering added protection during winter months when ventilation may be limited.

Nearly 50 models come with Smart WiFi connectivity, enabling AI-driven adaptive cooling, customised sleep modes, voice commands, and real-time energy monitoring. Additional advanced features across the range include multi-layer filtration systems, convertible cooling modes, self-clean and defrost-clean technologies, DigiQ Octa Sensors, and Nano BluProtect coating for enhanced anti-corrosion protection.

To enhance customer confidence, Blue Star offers a lifetime warranty on the inverter compressor and a five-year warranty on printed circuit boards (PCBs), alongside attractive financing options that improve affordability.

Manufacturing and Capacity Expansion Supporting the new product rollout, Blue Star has strengthened its manufacturing infrastructure. The company currently operates facilities with a combined production capacity of approximately 1.4 million room AC units per year, with plans to scale up to 1.8 million units. Key plants include a modern facility at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh and two dedicated units in Himachal Pradesh. These sites incorporate advanced automation, IoT integration, and digital systems to ensure high quality and operational efficiency.

Sustainable Innovation and R&D Blue Star continues to invest in research and development, backed by accredited testing laboratories. The company is progressively adopting eco-friendly refrigerants and energy-efficient technologies in line with evolving environmental regulations, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable cooling solutions.

Distribution and Service Network With a robust pan-India footprint covering over 900 towns and more than 10,000 retail outlets, Blue Star ensures wide product availability. Its Gold Standard Service network, comprising over 2,100 partners and supported by digital platforms, provides reliable after-sales support across the country.

Commercial Refrigeration Portfolio Complementing the residential AC range, Blue Star offers a wide array of commercial refrigeration solutions, including deep freezers, visi coolers, cold rooms, supermarket systems, and specialised healthcare products such as ultra-low temperature freezers and vaccine transporters. These cater to sectors ranging from food retail and hospitality to pharmaceuticals, dairy, and horticulture, benefiting from the growth in modern trade, quick commerce, and out-of-home consumption.

Leadership Perspective Commenting on the launch, B Thiagarajan, Managing Director, Blue Star Limited, stated: “India’s cooling demand is at an inflection point, supported by favourable demographics and structural shifts in consumption. Nearly 150 million households in India are expected to be able to afford air conditioners in the future, indicating significant headroom for penetration. The new range of Unitary Cooling products, including a comprehensive portfolio of commercial refrigeration solutions, further strengthens our ability to capitalise on the growing opportunities and expand our presence across both residential and commercial segments.”

The 2026 range positions Blue Star to lead the next phase of growth in India’s cooling industry by aligning product innovation with changing consumer needs, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics. As summer demand builds, the company remains focused on delivering high-performance, energy-efficient, and technologically advanced solutions that enhance comfort while promoting sustainability.
